Aarti Patel Chad Cryer  Bio 1406 Post lab #5 Part I 1) 2) The lichen powder vibrated because of the added water.  This  vibration rate varied  and in a random direction.  We also  observed the algae and moss were wrapped around each other.  When viewing the lichen powder under high power, tiny particles  were vibrating in place. This is caused by water molecules on  the microscope slide moving and colliding with the particles of  the lichen. This visible movement is called the “Brownian  motion”.
