Objectives of the course: After finishing this course, participants will be better able to: 1. Understand the functional areas of management (Planning, Organizing, Leading, and Controlling) 2. Understand an organization as an “open-system”. This will provide the students with the conceptual skills necessary for managing complex organizations. 3. Acquire basic management skills. These include such skills as communication, leadership, and teamwork. To accomplish these objectives, the course will include short lecture, class and small group discussions, video and text cases, experiential exercises and a team project. Attending class will help you learn the material and prepare for the exams. Please arrive on time for class as a courtesy to others; late arrivals are disruptive. Evaluation:
