Unit Assignment Unit 5 Assignment (PCI) Section 1 Question : You visit a retail establishment, shop around, and finally carry several products to one of the point of sale (POS) terminals distributed openly around the store. You produce a credit card, the sales clerk process the transaction, bags your goods, and hands you the receipt. On your to the exit, a store employee asks to see your receipt and checks the contents of the store bag. Document each of the major events just described and explain them in terms of the PCI compliance standard. Include this report in your weekly assignment. Answer: Once you approach the POS Terminal, the teller has to login to the terminal using a Unique Password. This complied with Req 9 (Assign a unique ID to each person with computer access). The Data from Credit Card is not readable by the teller and is partially visible to the teller. The Masking is again part of PCI requirement. The Receipt is again missing the full card number and User Details except the Card Holder Name. These again are Part of PCI Compliance. 3.3 Mask PAN when displayed; the first six and last four digits are the maximum number of digits you may display. Not applicable for authorized people with a legitimate business need to see the full PAN. Does not supersede stricter requirements in place for displays of cardholder data such as on a point-of-sale receipt. 3.4 Data is unreadable when printed or stored. The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
