Demography: The study of statistics such as births, deaths, disease, that illustrate the changing structure of human population. Picture of extremely crowded beach in china is shown. This is the result of a new bus system, but for the class it pertains to the topic of “crowding.” A newspaper is shown to us that show a picture of “packing” in Tokyo subways. Life expectancy chart is shown in which females outlive males slightly; the whole thing has been slowly going up and up. So life expectancy lengthens and there are less workers to support the retired populations. It’s a big problem in Japan and china. Men vs women in age Men Women 75.2 years 82.4 + 5.2 years In USA: Boys and men have weaker immune systems than women. They recover more slowly from illness due to a variety of factors (ex men take more risks, they are more aggressive, men smoke more than women, men drink much more alcohol than women, men are less likely to wear sweat belts, men less likely to use sunscreen, men are four times more
