Photosynthesis 1. I know that photosynthesis is actually two stages, called light and dark. 2. I can describe the process of both stages. 3. I can describe the chloroplast's structure and functions in photosynthesis. People often get confused with the dark stage. The dark stage can actually happen at any time; at day or night. Photosynthesis is probably the most important chemical reaction in the world. This is because, plants make sugar by photosynthesis. So, we get that sugar (which is the source of our energy) from plants. The light stage needs light, but the dark stage doesn’t, and can happen at

Unformatted text preview: any time. • Chloroplasts (just like a mitochondria) doesn’t have plant DNA. It has its own. • Autotrophs- organisms that get its energy by its own, i.e. from sunlight, or from chemical bonds in inorganic substances. • Heterotrophs- organisms that must get energy from food instead of directly from sunlight or inorganic substances. • The figure below shows the process of: H 2 O+ATP ADP+P+energy • In which, ATP releases energy (When the outer phosphate group detaches from ATP, energy is released). The Stages of Photosynthesis: 1. Energy is captured from sunlight....
