Unformatted text preview: Name : EML 2023 – CAD Open book and notes Quiz #2 – Summer 09 24 July 2009 Problem 1. Units are in mm. Unless otherwise specified: all dimensions 0.3 mm all angles 1 Note that the right side view does not show the hidden lines associated with the three bolt holes. a. What is the MMC of the 68 mm boss? 68.2 mm b. Is the position tolerance on the boss referenced at MMC, LMC, or RFS? RFS, regardless of feature size c. How much position tolerance is allowed on the boss if it is produced at a size of 68.1 mm? 0.3 mm d. What is the MMC of the three holes? 14.8 mm e. How much position tolerance is allowed if the three holes are produced at a size of 14.8 mm? 0.35 mm f. How much position tolerance is allowed if the three holes are produced at a size of 15 mm? 0.55 mm g. What is the maximum perpendicularity tolerance on the center hole? 0.2 mm h. Does the 94 mm bolt circle dimension have tolerance? It so, what is it? No, basic dimensions do not have tolerances. i. What is the maximum allowable outer radius of the part relative to datum B? 61.25 mm j. What is the maximum allowable radius of the center hole relative to datum B? 24.05 mm k. What is the maximum allowable total height of the part? 37.6 mm total height Problem 2. The basic diameter of the hole in the pulley and the outside of the bushing is 1.5”. The basic diameter of the hole in the bushing and the outside of the shaft is 1.25”. Determine the limits of tolerance for the inner and outer diameters of the bushing if the fit between the bushing and the pulley is an LN2 interference locational fit and the fit between the shaft and the bushing is an RC6 running clearance fit. For the LN2 fit, the standard limits for the outer diameter of the bushing is given in Appendix 32 of the class notes as + 0.001” and +0.0016”. Thus the limits of tolerance for the outer diameter of the bushing are 1.5010” to 1.5016 “. For the RC6 fit, the standard limits for the outer diameter of the bushing is given in Appendix 29 of the class notes as + 0” and +0.0025”. Thus the limits of tolerance for the inner diameter of the bushing are 1.25” to 1.2525 “. ...
