EML 4321 --- HW #1 Due start of class on Monday 29 August (alternatively, may be put in my mailbox in MAE-B 233 by noon ) The homework should be submitted in a stapled packet of neatly solved problems in the correct order. In the top right corner of the first page should be your name, your UFID, and an indication that this is HW#1. The following questions are based upon your reading of Chapter 1: 1. There are many abbreviations used in manufacturing. I (and your future employers) do not expect you to know them all. But you should know some of the common ones. So I want you to write out the wording (e.g., UF=University of Florida) of the following common terms discussed in Chapter 1: CAD, CAM, CAPP, CE, CIM, CSG, GT, IGES, JIT, LAN, MRP, MRP-II, NC, PP 2. The two branches of manufacturing engineering are PE and IE. What is the difference between them?
