Unformatted text preview: 2-20-05Determination of Chlorophyll and CarotenoidConcentration by SpectrophotometryObjectives:In this experiment we were trying to quantify the chlorophyll and carotenoid concentration in a plant which was grown under varying light conditions. Since the two types of chlorophyll absorb at different wavelengths, we can compare their absorbance using the spectrophotometer and calculate their concentration using the provided formulas. Chlorophyll B absorbs in the 460 nm range and slightly at the 620 nm range. The carotenoids absorb in the 600 nm range.
