Imagine that you are a small social program seeking funding for a new project or issue and that Dr. Diehl is a foundation that has money to invest. Given all of the problems to be addressed, how will you convince the foundation to address yours? The essential question is: Why should a funder spend money on the issue you are addressing ? While both intellectual and emotional appeals can be persuasive, your task here is to create the intellectual, scientific, factual, and objective case for the need to address your issue. The Situation Statement is designed to inform the reader about the issue and provide a logical case for why action is needed.
