BMGT 340 Ratio Analysis When you have completed this assignment, you will be able to - Analyze which ratios are important to a particular company - Calculate ratios and the trend in ratios for a company - Compare a company’s performance to an industry average - Synthesize your research and calculations into a report analyzing your company’s financial health - Relate a current event to your financial analysis 1. Find your Thomson One financial statements and comps (industry ratio report) from Assignment 1. 2. Note on the Key Ratio report there are five categories of ratios: Profitability, Asset Utilization, Leverage, Liquidity and Market Value. Choose 1 ratio from 4 of the 5 categories. The ratio you choose should have an industry ratios (and not “not available”. Often it’s easier to find things to say about a ratio when you choose a ratio for which your company is not close to the industry average – you might want to choose a ratio where your company is either better or worse than the industry average. 3. Calculate each of the 4 ratios for 2 years. Then calculate the year to year difference for 2008 to 2009 and for 2007 to 2008 (note that your company’s years
