This mural is dedicated in memory of Dr. Madeline L. Cohen, who enriched the lives and talents of many students during her 26 years at Community College of Philadelphia. The mural was created by Instructor Dean Hartung and students from the Mural Arts Class in Summer 2006, with funding from the Community College of Philadelphia Foundation. Metropolitan Museum of Art, Reconstruction of a cubiculum (bedroom) from the Villa of P. The subject for the mural was chosen from an entire reconstructed bedroom from a noble villa in Boscoreale, excavated after its entombment by the eruption of Vesuvius in A.D. 79. The room is reconstructed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

The surviving paintings are extremely fine examples of the late Second Style, the most renowned style in Roman wall painting. Throughout the frescoes from the villa at Boscoreale there are visual ambiguities to tease the eye, including architectural details
