Dana Crittenden Critical Analysis Paper #5 BIO312 March 28, 2007 With Child Pope John Paul II is a prominent name when discussing the conservative arguments on abortion. As the head of the Roman Catholic Church, he believes abortion should be referred to as murder. In the conservative viewpoint on abortion, there is no case in which an abortion could be justified, except those cases in which the pregnant mother could be fatally harmed. This topic comes with many discrepancies in beliefs. One of these arguments, as discussed in John Paul’s article, is the question of when life begins. He stands with the ideal that life begins at the moment of conception, which is also defined as a zygote. John Paul states society is responsible for a lot of the pressure put on pregnant women, forcing them to conform to society by aborting. He includes an interesting quote in his article, “It is true that the decision to have an abortion is often tragic and painful for the mother, insofar as the decision to rid herself of the fruit of conception is not made for
