Concepts of Biology Laboratory – Biol 100:  Fall 2011 Section E: 1:40 – 3:30 Wednesday Section F: 3:40 – 5:30 Wednesday Section U: 10:40 – 12:30 Friday Science Bldg. Rm. 202 Instructor:   Eric Tretter Email:    [email protected] Office:   Science 213 Office hours:   By appointment or Tue.  3:00-4:00 & Thurs. 10:00-12:00 Text (Required):   Concepts of Biology Laboratory Manual Fifth Edition (Revised Printing), Boise State  University. Lab Rules and Safety : No food or drink in the labs. You must wear close-toed shoes in the lab.  No sandals, etc. Dispose of garbage in the appropriate container – glass in the glass  disposal, biohazardous material in the biohazard container.  If you don’t know how to dispose  of something, ask me. Clean up spills immediately.  If you do not know how to handle a particular  kind of spill, ask me about that, as well. Keep the lab clean. Course Requirements: Pre-labs:   Each lab has a pre-lab assignment.  These are worth three points  each.  These will be collected at the beginning of class.  Students who are drastically late  (more than 10 minutes) may forfeit their pre-lab points.  There won’t be one for the first lab. Quiz:   There is one weekly quiz (may be in class or may be online).  These  are worth five points each.  You will have appx. 10 minutes for the quiz.
