Lab 2: Density (linearized plot) Monday 6:20-8:10pm Abstract This experiment was done to show the use of logarithms plot and linearized plot. In this lab, measurements were taken by using vernier calipers and wiggle to find the density of clay. The results in part 1 and part 2 only have slightly different and they also showed how scientists “model” physical effect.

Objective The objective of this lab is to determine the density of clay and fit a model function for mass vs. diameter. The aim is to understand how scientists “model” physical effects and introduce Logarithmic plots. Procedure Vernier calipers were used to measure the diameter of 1-7cm spheres and take 6 independent readings of each sphere. Part 1 use the data of the 1cm sphere to calculate the density of clay and its error based on your data. Wiggle was used to measure the mass of 1-7cm spheres. Part 2 find the mean value of the diameter and mass of each sphere. Result
