Lab 6: Conservation of Energy Monday 6:20-8:10pm Abstract This lab is used to prove the Law of Conservation of Energy. In the result section the error of the total energy, which is about 0.007J, is a very small and it shows that the total amount energy does not lose or gain over time. It proves that the energy can only transform from one state to another.

Objective The objective of this lab is to investigate whether or not energy is conserved in a simple mechanical system. Procedure Part 1, opened the program Logger Pro and insert the movie file and set the size scale of the video. Then mark the position on the video and the program will record the x and y coordinates of the points that were selected. Then about 15-20 points were marked on the video. Part 2, used an apparatus to draw a trajectory of a pendulum bob. Then used a three points method to calculate the bob’s average speed at specific point. Result
