Lab 7: Collisions in One Dimension Monday 6:20-8:10pm Abstract The objective of this lab is going to show that momentum is always conserved when there is no net external force acting on the system and that energy is only sometimes conserved in various kinds of collisions. Four collisions were done in this lab and the data were record in Excel. The relative velocity ratio in collision 3 and 4 were -0.9278m/s and -0.6242m/s, which is close to the theoretical value -1m/s. The changes in momentum for all the four collisions were close to 0. The errors occurred in this lab because of friction and air resistance.
