Objective The objective of this lab is to see that statics is concerned with the application of Newton’s laws to things that do not accelerate. Procedure Part 1, set pulley number one at 30° degree and add 50 grams to the weight pan, set pulley number two at 130° and add 100 grams, then to determine T3 to balance the ring. The error can be determined by finding the smallest added mass for which the ring moves distinctly off center when the table was tapped and by repeated angle measurements. Part 2, first the pivot has been located at a position that is not in the middle of the ruler, then the position of the weight hanger was adjust for balance on the shorter end of the ruler, and measure its position.
