POLITICS AND POLICY IN ENVD Social Factors Guest lecturer March 01, 2010 - Very wide ranging Politics- “The activities surrounding the making of binding decisions about who gets what when and how.” - Everybody can’t get what they want. - Examples in policy making: Electricity conservation and usage, Prohibited trespassing. o Sign posting very political- to control chaos by compromising who and when the facility can be used. USCU- Student Union- elections that involve the CU student body and our politics Family issues- Form of politics. Political Contexts- Politics in US generally occurs at four levels 1) Community level- Example: Morning Star at Covenant Control- HOA- Homeowners Association- Dictates appears of the community and the clubs, ect… 2) Local- Municipality or country and their deciding rights and privileges a. Municipality- anything at local level of government 3) State- 10 th amendment- US promotes leeway that promotes state specific decision that are involving state only. We actually have a lot of power here.
