DORIC IONIC CORINTHIAN TUSCAN AND E-1027 ENVD 1004 February 23, 2010 These Families were very elaborate and colorful. - Represented though the columns and the statues that are now grey and white. 1 st order- Doric - columns that relied just on shadow lines that tied the body to the column - Tough powerful warrior 2 nd order- Ionic - columns were 1/8 width than the height. - Represents the woman but a figure of a muscular woman - Representing a conquering race. 3 rd order- Corinthian - the columns have shafts that are elaborate and just the same width size of column - Still woman figured 4 th order- Tuscan - Plainness of all the orders - Shafts are still larger but nothing else decorative - Represents a young strong warrior. 5 th order- Combination - It is a combo of Tuscan and Corinthian and very very elaborates. - Palladio’s favorite and he uses. Architecture follows these same ideas. Le Corbusier- works in the Tuscan mode. E1027
