Professor Tosti-Kharas, MGMT 605 Spring 2010 Team Consulting Project Information 1 DESCRIPTION OF TEAM PROJECT TEAM MEMBERSHIP AND RESPONSIBILITIES This handout gives you some more information regarding your responsibilities as a team member and the specifics of your team project. You will choose teams of 5-6 students. If you choose to change from one team to another, you may do so with permission of the group you are joining, provided it does not exceed 6 members. Any changes must be approved by the team and the professor prior to the end of the day on Tuesday, March 2 . After that, no changes to team composition are possible. All students must be on a team at all points during the semester. It is critical to your success in this course that you engage in significant teamwork outside of class. THE FIRST MEETING Please cooperate with your team’s efforts to schedule your first group meeting as soon as possible, preferably before class next week. You will also get some time at the end of this class to meet. This meeting should involve getting to know one another informally and having a planning session for group work for the remainder of the semester. First, consider starting the meeting on a more social note by meeting for a snack or light meal. Start and end this part of the meeting on time. Second, continue by having a planning meeting, with everyone having read the syllabus to think about the various team assignments and what roles they would like to play in completing those assignments successfully. Decide on an order for speaking in this part of the meeting and make sure that everyone has a chance to speak about the tasks ahead. Your output for this meeting includes deciding which organization to study and coming up with a team name. Teams will be asked to present their team’s name and rank-ordered choice of 2 organizations they would like to study on Tuesday, February 9. In the event that more than one group wishes to study the same organization, an impartial process will be used to determine which group will get to study that organization. TEAM CONSULTING PROJECT
