"PreLab" for Ch 11.8 Power Series (Stewart) or Ch 9.5 or Ch 10 (HughesHallett)
also a Technology assessment for Math Majors
Prof. Ross says: in my class, this assignment must be turned in
electronically rather than on paper.
That means doing everything in
something like Excel or Wolfram Alpha, unless you know how to save
graphs on your calculator in a way that you can put multiple graphs
into a document and email that one document to me, or upload it.
Also, all tables must be filled in automatically rather than by hand.
Using any software package, calculator, or web site you wish (unless
restricted by your instructor), do the following:
1. For x values from 2 to +2,
a. graph y=1
b. graph y=1+x
c. graph y=1+x+x^2/2
(that's "x squared over two")
d. graph y=1+x+x^2/2 + x^3/3! ("x cubed over three factorial")
e. graph y=1+x+x^2/2 + x^3/3! + x^4/4!
f. graph y=1+x+x^2/2 + x^3/3! + x^4/4! + x^5/5!
g. graph y=1+x+x^2/2 + x^3/3! + x^4/4! + x^5/5! + x^6/6!
