BIEB 174 Field Exercise Join up with at least one fellow student, as many as 6 in a group. Find a time when you can all meet, it should take 2-4 hours to complete the exercise, it just depends on how you work and what kind of a site you pick. Do the exercise between Nov. 2 nd and Nov 5 th , this exercise takes the place of clicker points and lectures for Nov. 3 & 5. You’ll need to bring with you: -At least 14 small items that won’t blow away, and that you’ll be able to easily find in vegetation, to mark your plots (old highlighters, colored pencils, plastic forks, etc). -Something to mark off 1 meter (an easy way to make a meter strip – take two 8 ½ x 11 inch pieces of paper. Cut two thin strips the long way off of one piece of paper. Cut two thin strips the short way off of the other piece. Tape them together end by end. Think about it: 11” + 11” + 8.5” + 8.5” = 41” = 1.04 m, close enough. -Pencil to write with -This lab handout.
