Social Development Research I decided to use the article I found titled: More than just a game: Video Game and Internet Use During Emerging Adulthood. I decided to choose this piece because the social issues of video games and whether or not they cause social problems such as aggression has been debated for many years with neither side gaining an upper hand. The purpose of this study is to gain a clearer understanding of video game and internet use among college students 18-24 and how these leisure electronics related to risk behaviors such as drug use, sex, drinking, and the perception of self and social acceptance. This article relates to social development in adults by examining the effects video games and the internet have on young adults by using the media model practice proposed by J.D. Brown as a way emerging adults select a type of media they interact with and how these media choices influence their identity.
