Current Business Research Project: Marketing For many years the fashion industry has jaded young men and woman into believing they need to be skinny to wear certain brands and shop in certain stores. Consumers shop for a brand personality that they want to become based off of an image that is portrayed to them. The way an individual views them self in comparison to the brand may not be similar with one another. A number of overweight and obese individuals claim that the fashion industry is discriminating against them. Fashion companies are disagreeing. Through all of the debate, there is limited research. A study has been done to compare four leading fashion retailers in Sweden and their clothing line, to sizes of individuals in the population. Many would think brand imagery would be used in a case like this to back the idea of excluding overweight customers to improve user
