Jacqueline Reyes Research Part 1 12/05/10 SO101 The Road of Our History My visit to the National Museum of American History was a mind refresher. The information that I learned through several of the exhibits was information that I was taught back in high school, yet it elaborates more on what I had learned. I was surprise to learn more about the life of Abraham Lincoln. The background story of 16 th president is one many, like myself, know little of. The type of person and family Lincoln grew up in explains why he was the one to purpose the idea of eliminating slavery. I was also surprise to discover how the elections were held back in the 1800s. The exhibit American Presidency, A Glorious Burden, was one that surprised me the most. I was not familiar with the things many of our previous presidents have done in their time in office and about the different policies they were involved in. It also gave further information about the dilemmas and issues that were going on during each president’s time in office, which help me learn more about the actions they took and why they took them. For example, President Roosevelt had influence on many of our economic policies, especially
