This question reviews some of its basics and how it can affect humans. a. Describe an asbestos particle (shape, size, composition). Provide a sketch. b. What is the cause (method of formation) and source (identifiable means of human exposure) of asbestos? Why was it used so heavily in indoor applications? c. Upon inhalation, what would its likely method of deposition be? Why? d. What are some of the known health effects associated with asbestos? e. How is asbestos currently regulated? Remember to cite your sources. (20%) 2. If on a particular day, the 24-hour average concentrations of particles and SO 2 are equal to the annual average values given below, calculate the PSI (Pollutants Standard Index) for New York and Chicago, and verbally describe the air.
