HOMEWORK VIII AERSCREEN (DUE ON 04/07) 1 . Sugarcane burning activities are very common in Palm Beach country, Florida. Carbonyls and other HAPs emission are resulting from incomplete combustion. According to research in University of Florida aerosol and particulate lab, emission factor of carbonyl is 0.079 lb per 1 lbs biomass at average. In a typical sugarcane burning scenario, about 100 lbs sugarcane will be burned in one hour. There is a rectangular shaped sugarcane burning site located in the rural area of PBC. An environmental consulting company is investigating the effect of carbonyls emission from this site on behalf of a local farmer’s associate. Using the site parameters listed in table 1 to calculate the maximum carbonyls concentration along the centerline of plume and where does this happens. Pre-processed surface characteristic file for the sectors in the area by AERSURFACE is available from http://plaza.ufl.edu/j.wang/seasonal.out Coincidentally the manager of the farmer’s associate lives 4.3 mile away from the site, he
