Eng. 310/Levison Some information about English 410 and 411  English 410 410 is a class that builds on what we have done in 310. The topic is California.  The first  unit is about the Gold Rush and gives students a chance to reflect on the differences and/ or similarities between the Gold Rush and now. The second unit is a major research paper on a topic of current and local interest. We  divide into groups and choose a topic to research. Past topics have been business  opportunities (high-tech, the wine industry, the movie industry, small-businesses etc.),  transportation (the MUNI, BART, the Bay Bridge), education (bilingual, equal  opportunity to a university education), housing, and any other topics that interest us. Each  group makes presentations to the class, each person focusing on their own particular  aspect of the topic.  Then we write up our findings in a research paper.
