Life Developed The solar system formed about 4.6 Billion years ago WE KNOW that by 3.5 Billion years ago we had bacteria and blue-green alge By 2.5 Billion years ago plankton were altering the oxygen content of the atmosphere Greenhouse Effect Any gas that absorbs infrared Greenhouse gas: molecules with 2 different types of elements (CO2, H2O, CH4) Not a greenhouse gas: molecules with single or 2 atoms of the same element (O2, N2)
