Danny Smith Smith 1 Professor Mitchell Herschbach Philosphy 12, A02 2 November, 2010 Research hypothesis is basically a statement used by researchers to predict the outcome of their research or experiment for when there is a correlation between the two variables. In this experiment, the research hypothesis is there is a difference between the qualities of charter and public elementary schools teachers. Null hypothesis however is the complete opposite, it is statement of default position and claiming there is no difference between the two variables. In this study, the null hypothesis is there is no difference between the two different types of elementary schools teachers. It is important to figure out the null hypothesis because it gives researcher a default idea of what they are trying to prove against, or the original idea they are trying to disapprove. There are two different types of error that can be committed by the researcher: type I happens when the researcher think there is a difference even though there isn’t a
