(10-0014) Analysis of Current Dominican Issues-Sec.02 Professor Elsa Torres July 4, 2011 Las Terrenas has its RD$858.1M Aqueduct http://www.dominicantoday.com/dr/economy/2011/7/6/40120/Las-Terrenas-has-its-RD8581M- aqueduct Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic.- President Leonel Fernandez headed the ribbon cutting Tuesday for the aqueduct built at a cost of RD$858.1 million. The work built by the National Sewage Systems and Potables Water Institute (INAPA) will provide piped water to 48,830 people in the urban and tourist zone and other localities of northeastern Samaná province. The new aqueduct will also benefit the communities Carolina, Abra Grande, Atravesado, El Buen Pan, Cosón, La Bonita, La Ceiba and Barbacoa. In the inaugural speech, INAPA director Mariano German affirmed that the aqueduct was one of the works most yearned for by the people of Samaná province. Overview The town of Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic finally inaugurated the RD$858.1 million aqueduct built by the National Sewage Systems and Potables Water Institute. It is planned to provide water to 48,830 people. Opinion It is incredible that it is at this point in time that a thriving community such as Las Terrenas is getting a proper aqueduct. This should have been done a long time ago and is probably being done now because a lot of people with money and power are acquiring territory
