(10-0014) Organization and Methods Professor Mejia March 15, 2011 Companies That Have Undergone Executive Changes Many companies have undergone executive changes, and even more in the last couple of years, but the first few that came to mind as the most notorious ones were Bank of America and Merrill Lynch, Viva and Centennial, and ultimately, Claro-Codetel and Verizon. These three mergers or acquisitions have very different procedures, goals, but a few things in common. When Bank of America merged with Merril Lynch, they decided to combine both companies under Bank of America. More than 16,000 financial advisors, the whole client base, and three directors of Merrill Lynch would join the Bank of America Board of Directors and corporation. On the other hand, the Dominican Company Codetel which has passed through many hands, including Verizon, until finally the Mexican company America Movil bought Codetel, creating Claro Codetel. Although this was a smoother transition, there was a lot of fired employees, and the whole identity of the company changed into a new culture. The remaining employees received salary raises and more benefits. Similar to this situation, Viva bought Centennial, basically saving them from bankruptcy and merging unto Viva as a whole. Centennials culture and believes disappeared beneath Viva, but now the company is thriving in success, when previously both were doing terribly....
