ASE Correlation This job sheet is related to the Automatic Transmission and Transaxles Tests Content Area: Off-Vehicle Transmission and Transaxle Repair, Gear Train, Shafts, Bushings, and Case. Tasks: Inspect, measure, and replace thrust washers and bearings and inspect bushings; replace as needed. Tools and Materials Wire-type feeler gauge set Bushing driver set Bushing puller tool Describe the vehicle being worked on: Year _________ Make ___________________________ Model ___________________ VIN ____________________ Engine type and size ______________________________ Model and type of transmission ______________________________________________ Procedure 1. The best time to inspect thrust washers, bearings, and bushings is during disassembly. The bushings should be inspected for pitting and scoring. Describe their condition. ____________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________ 2. Check the depth that bushings are installed to and the direction of the oil groove, if so equipped, before you remove them. Many bushings that are used in the planetary gearing and output shaft areas have oiling holes in them. Be sure to line these up correctly during installation or you may block off oil delivery and destroy the geartrain. Describe their condition....
