Home assignment – To help you prepare to write your own Philosophy of Education PHILOSOPHIES IN PRACTICE – THINKING ABOUT TEACHERS Look in Chapter 6 of our textbook, at the chart– Philosophical Orientations in Education Today . Reflect on your own school experience, and consider the following questions: What philosophies influenced the elementary schools you attended? Think about each of the five columns, and select a position that most fits the school you attended. Can you give examples? Think about a teacher you remember most. What do you think his or her philosophy was? Think about each of the five columns, and select the position that best fits that teacher. Give examples to support your view. Think about your own philosophy at this point in your life. Use the chart to select positions in each of the columns that most fit your beliefs.
