University Residence Halls and Apartments Database The company that we decided to build a database for is SUNY Buffalo in the Western New York region. SUNY Buffalo is a state university that provides education to more than 25,000 students. On- campus apartments and residential dormitories are provided to students who wish to live on campus. Campus computer labs and recreational fitness centers are also provided by the university for their students. The database that we proposed is an organized method of tracking student’s usage rates of the different gyms and computer labs located across campus. Using these rates, we can see which facilities are more frequently used and this information can be used by the university to improve each department accordingly. The database is used when students come into the facility and sign in. Using their sign in information such as their person number, we can link each student to the rest of their information such as name, room number, residence hall or apartment, room size and more. We believe that this information will help the university become more organized in determining the departments that are used most frequently so that the university can allocate its spare budget accordingly to most efficiently attract additional prospective students through improvement in these areas.
