4/20/11 Sociocultural Anthropology: Idea of Changing world and Changing Nations How do anthropologists have a role of talking about things that we may see as being the role of a scientist Separation of N and S Korea o There is a notion that they believe that there is a separation between nation and state o One nation and two states (one is seen as illegitimate from the other) o How do they define the Koreans—one good race of people o Same people subjected to different political stimuli Independent variable is the states o Split between people and state makes possible for S Koreans to develop a discource for unification sees the probelsm of uniting the country in terms of the states and the state being defined as one man like Kim Jon Il Focus on the state cultural process o People conceive of themselves as a single unitary homogenous people within two different states We know little about the relationship between the Korean people and difference etween their two separate states
