Unformatted text preview: Florida International University Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering CEG-4011 L - Geotechnical Laboratory Summer Term 2010 Learning Objectives: The geotechnical laboratory provides a vital learning tool for the student to test some of the basic principles of soil and rock mechanics. This is one of the few remaining laboratory experiences where the student performs all the experiments and develops a “hand on” experience. Each student will be exposed to experiments that develop a “feel” for the different soil types. Small teams of three or four students will be formed to help each other perform the experiment, and prepare a team written report. Students will have available a weekly appraisal of their progress. Laboratory Time : T or R 1230-1345 hours at the OU-107 Geotechnical Laboratory. Instructor: Luis A. Prieto-Portar PhD, PE, SE.
