Dear NCAA Rules Committee, Below you will find the facts and circumstances under which I am applying for a red shirt for my 2009 season. During my Christmas break, on December 30, 2008, my father was involved in a very serious ski accident, which almost left him paralyzed. I started school around mid January and practiced with the team daily. Since my father’s injury occurred in Lake Tahoe, he was in the Reno hospital where I was able to visit him daily during his 35-day hospital stay. After our first baseball series in Arizona, I knew that my head was not in it to focus on school and baseball with my fathers situation weighing on my mind.
