Joe Wallace English 102 2/20/08 Topic Proposal Addicted To Entertainment Why is entertainment such a valued and dominant commodity in our society? The entertainment industry has really erupted especially since the turn of the century. People will pay enormous amounts of money to be entertained and in our society; people are looking for anyway possible to bring joy into their lives. Take the Sports industry in our country; people are signing contracts for millions of dollars to play in front of people because it is such a profitable sector of our society. Why is it socially acceptable for an athlete or a movie star or a singer to be making millions upon millions of dollars, while there are people out in the world starving? People are willing to buy over priced tickets for any such event and I want to know why. What are certain types of things that sports teams or companies do in order to entice the public to want to be entertained by them? It
