Joe Wallace Journal #3 Mr. James Troxel Journal # 3 Personally, the toughest thing about being a collegiate athlete is learning how to use your time wisely while dealing with the fact that you are very tired from practice that morning. The baseball team lifts weights at 6:30 every weekday except Wednesday and has practice all five days of the week from 8 to around 12. I am always on the go and there is rarely time for a rest except for the occasional nap in class. There are so many things we need to do each day and it takes a lot of energy in order to get that done. Balancing practice, schoolwork, and six hours a week of study hall isn’t easy and requires a lot of focus and dedication. You have to push yourself everyday to make the right decisions knowing that if you don’t, consequences will be suffered on and off the field. Half the day I want nothing more than to go lay in bed and sleep for the rest of the day,

Unformatted text preview: but being a student athlete brings on certain responsibilities and if one makes the right choices and does the right things, the rewards are undoubtedly worth all the work. You see other students who are not athletes everyday doing what they please and relaxing with their friends, However I would give that up in a heartbeat to know that I could play baseball. So that’s what I’m doing, and although it is hard to get through everyday and it is a mental and physical struggle, it is all worth it to be out on the field each morning. I learn to manage my time wisely and prioritize the work that needs to be done with fun activities I could be doing. I am here for two reasons, to play baseball and to get an education and I learn to do whatever is necessary to accomplish those....
