Need for: DNA synthesis Myelin synthesis Sx: weakness, unsteadiness, depression, “dementia, tingling and decreased sensation in feet and hands - Strictly Vegan diets, & conditions of w/ autoimmune disease & antibodies to IF - Very rarely is caused by B12 consumption by the fish tapeworm ( Diphyllobothrium **IF needs acidic environment for absorption latum) - Megaloblastic anemia, demyelinating neuropathy, neuropsychiatric signs
