MAE 3113 MEASUREMENTS AND INSTRUMENTATIONS SPRING 2006 Report Due 1 week Lab 4 Digital Logic Introduction: Until this lab, you have dealt mainly with analog signals. This lab will introduce digital signals. The main advantage of a digital signal is that it only has two states , which allows easy communication between two different digital devices. Objective: The purpose of this lab is to learn how to deal with: Digital logic Several different types of digital logic chips Decoding a Remote Controls signal In this lab, you will be asked to test as many different types of logic chips as you can in the time permitted. Feel free to test the following, which are only recommendations, in addition to any other combination of logic chips. 1. Obtain the truth table and pin layouts for the following chips: 7400, 7402, 7404, 7408, 7410, 7411, 7432, 7470, 7472, and 7490. This is only a small list of the logic chips. ( This is to be done OUTSIDE the lab ) 2. A Power Plant needs an alarm system developed to warn of critical conditions in one of its mixing tanks. The tank has four HIGH/LOW switches, Monitoring temperature (T), pressure (P), fluid level (L), and
