The 340b Program: Created by Congress to reduce safety net provider drug costs Administered by the Office of Pharmacy Affairs (OPA) within the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Requires drug manufacturers participating in Medicaid and/or Medicare Part B to sell covered outpatient drugs to covered entities at discounted prices 9/14/11 Why is this an issue overall Cost issue Drug Diversions to non-patient Section 340B makes it illegal to sell or provide 340B-priced drugs to persons who are not patients of a covered entity.
