Home Depot vs. Lowe’s 2 Executive Summary A thorough analysis of Lowe’s and Home Depot from their respective 2003 and 2004 annual reports, 10K forms and 10Q forms indicate that Home Depot may be a better long term investment than Lowe’s. This conclusion is supported by the enclosed research indicating that Home Depot has higher investment in long term assets, better earnings per share, higher dividend yield, lower price to earnings ratio, and more long term initiatives. The company has given consistent returns and has experienced consistent growth. It is recommended that when the data for 2005 is made available through the SEC, that it be further analyzed to help in any decision regarding investment in either company. However, the information presented here is a likely indicator of how two companies are likely to have performed in 2005.
