Name Running Head: SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK (2012) 2 Silver Linings Playbook (2012) Bradley Cooper characterizing Pat Solitano taken to a hospital and stays in the psychiatric hospital for sometimes under the court order. Pat is a man diagnosed with bipolar disorder because of beating a man his wife was cheating with. He spent 8 months in a mental institution, but was later released by his parents and had to return to his childhood home where he wants to build his life. He believed his marriage will repair because he is better now. To regain his ex- wife, affection he teams up with his neighbor Jennifer Lawrence characterizing Tiffany who has many problems of her own specifically the borderline personality disorder. Tiffany was to deliver a letter asking her to be his dance partner in a local dance competition. While working on the deal to regain his ex-wife trust, Pat and Tiffany creates a strong bond together who become the Silver Linings for each other. Both borderline personality and bipolar disorders are depicted in the movie with extreme low and high emotions that cycle rapidly on many occasions. The directors and the actors made sure these changes of mood were transitioned the right way. His romantic foil Tiffany is combating her own demons. Bipolar disorder which is also called manic depression is a condition of mental illness that bestows low and high moods which changes the behavior, thinking, energy and sleep. It might be caused by the pattern of Hypomaniac and Depressive Sequences or a condition where you have Maniac and Depression symptoms at the same time. The suicidal behavior, threats, and gestures were depicted in the movie where reactivity of chronic feelings of inveterate experience of vanity with stress-related paranoid creation, difficulty in controlling the anger, or intense anger.
