The results were obtained like this because since water is made of fewer atoms than protein, it was much easier for the egg to get through the bag and into the egg, than it was for the egg to diffuse out of the bag. So, as a result, the mass of the bad increased because water was able to make it through the bag, thus adding mass to it. 3. 4. Changes that occurred in the bag were that the color of the solution changed from a white-ish color to a purple-black color. That indicates that the iodine in the water diffused into the bag, and changed its color. 5. No changes were noticed in the iodine outside of the bag. This shows that the starch was made of too many complex atoms that it couldn’t diffuse out of the bag. 6. When the water was tested for sugar, there was no sugar present. This shows that the sugar wasn’t able to get out of the bag. The sugar really should have diffused out of the bag but there was an experimental error and the Benedict Solution was not able to
