Taarika George Response to The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold Dear Ms. Sebold, I am writing to you to talk to you about your book, The Lovely Bones . Your novel is not just a novel, but also an adventure, filled with lessons about life. This book inspired me to live my life in a better and more meaningful way and I hope you see that as I explain to you what your book has done for me. I was completely amazed to be reading about a dead person! Since the majority of the book is set in heaven, Susie Salmon helped me to understand what heaven could be like and what it’s like to look down on Earth from there. Susie’s heaven wasn’t filled with clouds like everyone says, but it’s almost like a whole other world. Her main conflict in the story was with herself, in that she really wanted to be with her family and on earth again. It hurt her to see her mom, dad, sister Lindsey and brother Buckley suffer, all because of her death. While she talked about old flashbacks with her family and friends, or even
