Immigrants, don’t boo U.S. teams What claims are being made? This article claims that Mexican-American’s were disrespectful to America during a soccer game between Mexico and the United States. The author claims that immigrants from Mexico were blowing air horns during the national anthem, and waving the flag of Mexico. Do the claims conflict with your personal observations? This article was actually the second time I had heard about this issue. I watched several videos to see the actual reactions of the crowd during the national anthem and the game, and the Mexican-American crowd was indeed disrespectful. This article was right on target. What background information do you have about the claims?

Unformatted text preview: When I first heard that this had happened I was really shocked, so I started researching and watching videos of the game. All the videos and articles say about the same things. What is the expertise of the author, if any? The author of this article describes himself as being Mexican-American. Is the author biased and untrustworthy, or unbiased and trustworthy? I do not think the author is biased. I do think he is trustworthy based on him writing for CNN, and his nationality. I think he was seriously disappointed by his own people, and that is why he wrote the article. Find this article at: http://www.cnn.com/2011/OPINION/07/21/navarrette.soccer/index.html?&hpt=hp_c2...
