Tuesday 4:30 and 5:30 Discussions Homework 2 Due Tuesday, 7 December in class. Hard copies only. Read books IV and XXII of the Odyssey on ICON. Especially pay attention to the behavior of Telemachus. Keep in mind the Greek custom of xenia. In Book IV, Helen and Menelaus remark how much he looks like his father. Question : How does Telemachus act as a guest in Book IV? What does Telemachus do to the women in Book XXII? Is Telemachus justified to do that? Does he resemble his father in more than appearance; that is, does he share his father's notorious wit and trickery? Answer in a one-page, single-spaced paper. Your paper must use quotations from the Odyssey text. Cite quotations from the text like this: Homer describes Telemachus as "quotation" (Od. 22.1-2). That is, Od. Book number. line number(s). Do not use quotations longer than a few words. You should always incorporate the quotation into your own sentence. Grading:
