Lapchak 1 -1Stephen Lapchak Catherine Newell Writing 2 24 October 2010 The Internet and I The invention and evolution of the Internet has been the literal catching of lightning in a bottle; and like lightning the Internet is endowed with astonishing speed and awesome power. With relative ease people around the world who have access to the internet, can attain tremendous amounts of information in the matter of seconds. They can connect with a friend and chat, no matter the distance, or maybe just check a Facebook profile and see what may be going on in someone’s life. Yet, this lightning fast instrument has altered the ways and processes of thought in every day life because of its speed and power. In being so quick and efficient, the Internet has caused the world to function at a ridiculously fast pace, and therefore requiring the people living in the world to think and act in an identical fashion. People all over the world now not only need, but want, to attain information immediately for economical and educational purposes, in order to be successful or obtain a higher score or grade. People now need and want to have a way to contact someone rapidly and the Internet allows all this and more to happen. Its benefits to the world are beyond remarkable, and although it has altered the way people think, that alteration is a testament to the evolution of the human brain and society as a whole by how people can now process and digest information and social connections with other at an awe inspiring rate. When the access to the Internet and my other social media technologies were put on hold for a day, my world was definitely not as shaken up as I thought that it would be, when this
